Dogs can be great companions, after all they are called a man’s best friend. However, not all dogs are friendly, cuddly companions, some are aggressive and vicious. A dog attack can occur under many different circumstances causing an individual serious bodily injury. According to the National Library of Medicine, more than 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year in the United States. Approximately 800,000 people receive medical attention for dog bites, and approximately 10-20 people die from their injuries. The wounds from a dog attack may range from a scratch, to a deep tissue injury leaving the victim vulnerable to infections and high medical bills. Injuries caused by dog bite and attacks necessitate 30,000 reconstructive procedures, which includes stitches, staples, and additional complications.
